'I wasn't going to say that, but you've said it.' Alex joked, before asking Layton: 'Have there been teachers that have inspired you, there must have, along the way?'
Layton replied: 'Yeah, I think when I first moved to London. I had a couple of teachers who were just like very openly out there and happily gay and fabulous and it was the first time I'd ever seen that as a young boy.
'So, I was a bit like "Oh my god, you seem happy and also fabulous, I might try that."
'That just got me to come out of my shell a bit more, and you know, jump out the closet, quite frankly.'
'So, it was lovely. You don't realise how them tiny little bits of representation can be quite meaningful.'
Layton finished: 'Shout out to Matt and Damian. Love yas.'(sic).
Last year Layton starred on Strictly Come Dancing on the BBC with his partner Nikita Kuzmin.
